The 2011 Redhawks recorded one of the best seasons in school history. Their 10-7-1 record was the third best in school history. The team qualified for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) playoffs for the fifth consecutive season and third straight under Coach David Day.
Freshman Brian Weimerskirch tied the school record for points with 33, which included 12 goals and 9 assists. His efforts earned him several awards; AMCC Newcomer of the Year, Second Team All Conference, and ECAC Rookie of the Year. Freshman Ryan Luffey set a new school record for assists with 12, in addition to 6 goals. Luffey earned AMCC First Team All Conference honors. Senior captain Adam Minnaugh and Sophomore Yousef Barqawi earned Third Team All Conference honors. The team celebrated some outstanding victories including overtime wins at Waynesburg and Thiel.
La Roche returned 21 players from the 2010 squad including 3 seniors; Greg Ceravolo (Hampton), Adam Minnaugh (North Catholic), and Nick Showman (South Fayette) who lead the young Redhawks. Juniors Michael Brunozzi (Hempfield), Mark D'Uva (Seton LaSalle), Gilbert Uwineza (Rwanda) and Mohammed Alhojaili (Saudi Arabia) rounded out the upperclassmen. A number of Sophomores had outstanding seasons including Tyler Irwin (Pine Richland), Chad Trozzi (Lower Burrell), Yousef Barqawi (Saudi Arabia), Robert Fraino (Bishop Canevin), and Adam Getty (Canon MacMillan). Andy Eisenbarth, Jonathan Mancuso, Matt McAwley, Matt Bopp, Nick Sabol, Kurt Hoover, Matt Domiano, Dan Gelzhiser, and Joe Dwumfour continued to provide significant contributions to the team.
La Roche welcomed nine new Freshman to join the team in 2011; Josh Casey (Central Catholic), Michael Corey (Canon MacMillan), Andrew Danylo (Seneca Valley), Freddie Jones (Weir, WV), Ryan Lizik (Elizabeth Forward), Ryan Luffey (South Park), Kevin McCarthy (Pine Richland), Phil Ross (Peters Township), and Brian Weimerskirch (Springdale).
