Redhawks Drop Double-Header to Nation's Top Ranked Team

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Baseball (25-12) dropped both games of a double-header on Senior Day to Marietta College (35-3) 8-3, 7-2 in a non-conference game at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field. Marietta is currently ranked first in D3Baseball's National Top 25 Poll.

Pitcher, Austin Long, started game one and allowed four runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings of work. Jesse Bauer threw 5 1/3 innings in relief and gave up four runs on five hits while striking out four batters.

Chester Kirkwood went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Sean Lubin and Ed Skonieczny recorded an RBI apiece and Brian Herb and Anthony Girdano each scored a run.

Cole Lentz threw 4 1/3 innings in game two and allowed seven runs on eight hits while recording the loss. Ray Snyder and Reed Tomlinson combined for 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.

George Nahay went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Ed Skonieczny scored a run. Chester Kirkwood reached base twice, scored a run, and added a run batted in. Nahay and Kirkwood both recorded doubles.

The Redhawks will travel to Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday, May 10 at 4:00PM before playing Penn St. Behrend in the Championship Round of the AMCC Tournament on Thursday at 9:00AM.
