Baseball Drops Double Header Against Baldwin Wallace

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Baseball dropped a pair of games 3-2, 9-4 to Baldwin Wallace on Tuesday afternoon at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field.

Cole Lentz got out of a bases loaded jam in the first with a strike out and an inning double play to keep the game scoreless. The Yellow Jackets struck in the top of the second inning with three runs but La Roche answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. Lubin singled and scored on Brian Tougher's 18th RBI of the season. Tougher scored on the next at bat on Colin William's base knock up the middle. The Yellow Jackets received quality pitching in innings 4-7 and held on for the Game 1 win.

Tougher went 1 for 3 with an RBI and runs scored while Williamson had two hits including an RBI single.

Starting pitcher Cole Lentz threw all seven innings and gave up just 3 runs while striking out 4 batters.

The visiting Yellow Jackets took Game 2 9-4. Baldwin Wallace picked up an early RBI on a sac fly to left field to give the jackets a 1-0 lead. The Redhawks answered in the bottom half of the inning. Sean Lubin and Franzee Barlamas both reached base safely and Lubin scored on a Colin Williamson single up the middle to tie it at 1-1.

Two singles and a walk loaded the bases in the third and the Yellow Jackets' Eric Murphy hit a bases clearing double to give them a 4-1 lead.

La Roche cut the deficit to 4-3 in the third when Tougher and Williamson got on base with one out and Corey Lazor hit a 2-run standup triple to deep left centerfield.

Baldwin Wallace scored four runs in the fourth and a run each in the fifth and sixth innings but Girdano hit a solo shot to make it a game. La Roche was threatening in the seventh inning with two men on base but the Yellow Jackets got a groundout to end it.

Girdano belted his first dinger of the season while Williamson went 2 for 4 with a run and RBI. Corey Lazor had 2 RBIs in the loss.

La Roche Baseball will travel to #11 Marietta College on Thursday for a non conference double-header. First pitch is 2PM.
