PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Baseball registered their third top 25 victory of the season after splitting with #11 Marietta College 7-1 (L), 6-3 (W) on a cold Thursday at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field.

Marietta scored two runs in the first, three in the third, and two more in the fifth to take a 7-0 game 1 lead. The Redhawks got one back in the bottom of the sixth inning on an RBI double to the right-centerfield wall by Colin Williamson, but the Pioneers held on for the game 1 win.

Pitcher Jesse Bauer got the start and allowed 4 earned runs while striking out 4 in 7 innings.

The Redhawks earned a 6-3 game 2 victory thanks timely hitting and great pitching by Walt Hadjuk.

Marietta held a 3-1 lead halfway through the fourth inning when the Redhawks broke out the bats. Franzee Barlamas got things started with a bunt single and advanced to third base on a single by John Watson. Alex Simone followed with a sacrifice fly to centerfield to cut the deficit to one.

Colin Fiekles kept things going when the Pioneer's centerfielder misplayed a deep fly ball and let Watson score all the way from first base. Brian Tougher and Corey Lazor each added RBI singles to go up three runs. La Roche added another run in the fifth inning on a Simone sacrifice fly and Franzee Barlamas made a terrific over the shoulder catch in the seventh inning to seal the 6-3 victory.

Watson went 3 for 3 with a run and Colin Williamson collected 2 hits. Lazor, Tougher, and Anthony Girdano all had RBIs while Lazor, Tougher, Barlamas, and Fiekles scored runs.

Starting pitcher Walt Hadjuk had an outstanding outing and allowed just 3 runs while striking out 6 batters in 7 innings.
