PITTSBURGH, PA –La Roche Baseball (13-12) fell to #20 Heidelberg University (18-5) 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon in an AMCC vs. OAC game. Heidelberg is the fourth top 25 the Redhawks have faced this season.
Heidelberg drew a bases loaded walk in the second to take a 1-0 lead. The Princes extended that to four with three runs in the sixth inning on a RBI triple and two scores on an error that would have ended the inning.
The Redhawks got one back in the top of the seventh inning when Brian Tougher hit a leadoff double to the right field wall and scored on a Colin Fiekles' ground out.
Tougher finished with 2 hits including a double and scored while John Watson and Franzee Barlamas each added a hit. Fiekles had a RBI in the loss.
Walt Hadjuk allowed 4 runs (2 earned runs) on 4 hits while striking out 5 batters in 5 1/3 innings of work. Jesse Bauer, Trey Claar, and Adam Rousseau combined to strike out 6 batters and did not allow a hit in 3 2/3 innings of relief.
La Roche Baseball will host Bethany College on Thursday in a single 9-inning game. First pitch is 4PM.
