Redhawks Belt Four Homers in Double-Header Sweep of Medaille

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Baseball improved to 14-11 overall and 5-1 in the AMCC Conference with a 22-1, 15-3 double-header sweep of Medaille College on Sunday afternoon.

La Roche had their largest offensive output of the season in Game 1 defeating Medaille 22-1. The Redhawks had 5 runs in the second inning, 3 runs in the third, 5 runs in the fourth, 8 runs in the fifth, and a run in the sixth. The scoring was highlighted by homers from Colin Fiekles and Colin Williamson and RBI triples by Fiekles and Franzee Barlamas.

Fiekles finished just a double shy of the cycle with a home run, triple, single, 4 RBI, and 3 runs. Sean Lubin went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs while Williamson had 2 singles to go along with a 3-run dinger. Brian Tougher went 2 for 2 with a RBI triple and scored. Ben Herstine and Matt Sabatini combined to go 4 for 4 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored from the catcher position.

Starting pitcher Cole Lentz had another strong outing tossing 5 innings and allowing just one run on 3 hits while striking out 2 batters. Brady Hamer and Ryan Fennell combined for two scoreless innings of relief.

The Redhawks brought their hot bats into the second game as they downed Medaille 15-3.

Barlamas and Navedo produced RBI triples in the first two innings to go up 6-0 after two. Medaille got two of their own in the top of the third inning but Tougher and Girdano both smacked 2-run homers in the bottom half of the inning to take an 11-2 lead. La Roche added two more runs in the fourth inning and one each in the fifth and sixth to go up 15-3.

Navedo reached base four times, tripled, scored 3 runs, and hit in 4. Girdano had a 2-run homer, RBI single, and hit in another while Barlamas went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, 2 RBI, and a run.

Tyler Ferguson got the start and gave up 2 earned runs in 4 innings while Jesse Bauer, Jesse Grundza, and Walt Hadjuk all threw scorless innings in relief.

The Redhawks will travel to Penn State Altoona on Wednesday for an AMCC Conference double-header. First-pitch is 1PM.
