Redhawks Win-Streak Reaches Double Digits After Downing Waynesburg 21-4

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Baseball (21-11) extended their win-streak to double digits and with the 21-4 victory over Waynesburg (13-18) ran their 15+ run streak to a school record ten consecutive games.

Waynesburg took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but the Redhawks answered with seven in the bottom half of the inning.

Colin Williamson led off the inning with a single to left and Luis Navedo followed with a triple to the wall to score Williamson. Brian Tougher singled up the middle in the next at bat to give La Roche a one run lead and Colin Feikles hit a sacrifice fly to left to go up 3-1. Sean Lubin tripled to left field to score Feikles and Lubin crossed home plate on a Podvasnik single. Matt Sabatini doubled to the left-centerfield wall to go up 7-1.

The Yellow Jackets got one back in the top of the second but La Roche responded again with a 1-out RBI double by Sabatini and an error on the right fielder to take a 9-2 lead. Fiekles belted his fourth homer of the year and John Watson his fifth to take a nine run lead in the fourth.

La Roche added four runs in the seventh inning and seven more in the eighth to earn the 21-4 victory.

Sabatini went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI, a run, and a pair of doubles while Feikles homered, hit in 3, and scored. Navedo had a triple, double, 2 RBI, and scored twice and Watson homered and scored twice.

Starting pitcher Ryan Fennell gave up just 2 runs and struck out 4 batters in 5 innings to earn the win. Trey Claar allowed 2 runs in 2 innings while Brady Hamer and Jesse Bauer each threw a scoreless inning.

La Roche will travel to Mt Aloysius College on Wednesday for a big AMCC double-header. The Mounties split with Pitt-Bradford on Sunday.
