Lubin Breaks School's Hit Record as Redhawks Sweep D'Youville

PITTSBURGH, PA – Redhawks' shortstop Sean Lubin became the school's all-time hits leader when he roped a single into right field in La Roche's 10-0, 14-5 double-header sweep of D'Youville on Saturday. Lubin's 196th career hit put him one ahead of his former teammate George Nahay.

The Redhawks used five triples to take Game 1 10-0. La Roche scored four runs in the fourth on three consecutive RBI triples by Franzee Barlamas, Colin Feikles, and John Watson. They added a run in the second on a sacrifice fly and another in the third on a groundout to short. A pair of RBI singles and a 2-run double put the Redhawks ahead 10-0 in the fourth inning and they cruised from there.

Pitchers Cole Lentz and Adam Rousseau combined for the shutout. Lentz gave up 4 hits in 5 innings of work while Rousseau did not allow a hit.

Barlamas went 2 for 2 with a triple, double, 3 RBI, and 2 runs while Lubin scored twice and hit in one. Watson and Williamson had 2 RBIs apiece in the win.

La Roche took control of Game 2 with six runs in the first inning. Feikles, Lubin, and Matt Sabatini provided RBI singles in the inning and Cory Podvasnik had an RBI double. The Redhawks found home plate twice more in the third inning and John Watson belted a two run homer over the centerfield wall for a 12-0 lead. La Roche added a run each in the fourth and fifth innings for the 14-5 victory.

Starting pitcher Jesse Bauer did not allow an earned run in five innings to register the win. Trey Claar and Brady Hamer each threw an inning of relief for the Redhawks.

La Roche Baseball will host Bethany College on Monday in an AMCC vs. PAC matchup. First pitch is 4:30PM.
