Baseball's School Record Fourteen Game Win Streak Snapped

FROSTBURG, MD – La Roche Baseball fell for the first time in fourteen games dropping a 6-3 game to former AMCC Conference rival Frostburg State (27-11). The fourteen straight victories is a program record.

Frostburg State used a 3-run homer to jump out to a 5-0 first inning lead. The Redhawks answered with a run in the second inning and two more in the third on a Franzee Barlamas single to left field to cut the deficit to 5-3.

La Roche was again threatening in the top of the ninth inning when John Watson hit a leadoff triple to the wall, however two straight strikeouts and a groundout ended the inning.

Barlamas finished with 3 hits and 2 RBI. Colin Williamson singled and scored and Anthony Girdano reached base twice and scored. John Watson had 2 hits and Sean Lubin had an RBI in the loss.

Starting pitcher Tyler Ferguson's individual five game win streak was snapped. Cole Lentz and Jesse Bauer combined for a scoreless 5 1/3 innings for the Redhawks.

La Roche will travel to #23 Marietta College on Sunday for a double-header. The two teams split a two game series earlier this season.
