La Roche Sweeps Preseason Baseball Honors

La Roche College, ranked 24th nationally, is expected to defend their 2014 AMCC championship title, according to league coaches. The Redhawks received seven of nine first place votes.  Penn St. Behrend and Mount Aloysius College tied for a preseason second place ranking.

La Roche senior infielder Colin Feikles has been selected as the Preseason Player of the Year. Feikles has received many honors, including ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-American, ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, D3Baseball All-Region, AMCC Player of the Year, AMCC All-Conference First Team, D3Baseball National Player of the Week and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region National Player of the Week. Feikles led the AMCC in batting average, hits, RBIs, runs, doubles, total bases, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.

La Roche senior pitcher Tyler Ferguson has been tabbed as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Ferguson also received numerous honors, such as ABCA All-Region, D3Baseball All-Region, AMCC Second Team All-Conference, ECAC Pitcher of the Week and was a two-time AMCC Pitcher of the Week. In addition to his honors, Ferguson also holds the AMCC single season strikeout record. In 2014, he tied for the nation's lead in wins and was second in the nation in strikeouts.
