Redhawks Defeat Behrend in Game One 13-1, Fall in Game Two 4-3

PITTSBURGH, PA -- La Roche Baseball split a double header with Penn State Behrend earning a 13-1 victory before falling in the night game 4-3.

The Redhawks wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with two runs in the first inning of Game 1. Franzee Barlamas' RBI double scored Colin Williamson and Colin Feikles crossed home on a groundout.

Penn State Behrend got one back in the top of the second inning but two great throws by Barlamas and John Watson limited the damage. Feikles added to La Roche's lead with a 2-out 2 RBI double and scored on the following play. The Redhawks scored in every inning including three each in the second and fourth innings.

Tanner Wilt got the start and tossed the complete game win. He allowed just one run and struck out a season-high 9 batters in seven innings. Feikles went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, 3 runs and a double. Williamson and Watson each had 2 RBI and scored twice while Sabatini scored three runs and Barlamas hit in two.

In Game 2, Tyler Ferguson sent Behrend down in order and Cory Podvasnik delivered a 2-run homer to put the Redhawks ahead 1-0 after the first. Penn State Behrend put together a four run eighth inning to take a 4-3 lead. The Redhawks had runners at the corners in the bottom of the eighth but a strikeout ended the inning. Relief pitcher David Lemley got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the ninth but La Roche went down in order in the bottom half to end it.

Ferguson threw a gem striking out 11 and allowing no earned runs in seven innings.
