BEREA, OH – La Roche Baseball picked up a big win on Tuesday when they split a double-header with the defending OAC Champions #15 Baldwin Wallace 20-16 (W), 17-3 (L). The twenty runs are the most Baldwin Wallace has given up since the 2009 season.
The Redhawks strung together three big innings to earn the 20-13 Game 1 win. La Roche ran out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the first. Dylan Wolsonovich and Brian Tougher provided 2-run singles with Corey Podvasnik and Matt Sabatini also contributing RBIs.
Baldwin Wallace took a 10-7 lead in the third inning but the Redhawks responded with a big offensive output in the top of the fourth. A Colin Feikles three-run homer and a Podvasnik solo shot highlighted the inning that put La Roche ahead 16-10. La Roche added three RBI doubles in the fifth to earn the 20-13 victory.
Every Redhawk starter finished with a hit, RBI and run. Feikles led La Roche with 5 RBIs and Matt Sabatini had a season-high 4 RBIs. Wolsonovich, Feikles, Podvasnik and Sabatini all scored 3 runs. David Lemley threw 4 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win.
La Roche opened the late game with three first inning runs but Baldwin Wallace held the Redhawks scoreless over the final six frames to earn the win.
La Roche Baseball returns to AMCC Conference play on Saturday for a double-header at Hilbert. The Redhawks can clinch the AMCC Regular Season title on Saturday.
