TIFFIN, OH – La Roche Baseball dropped a non-conference game to #6 Heidelberg University 12-9 on Thursday afternoon. Heidelberg is the top-rated team in the Mideast Region.
Heidelberg broke open a close game with seven runs in the fourth inning. The Redhawks rallied with a Cory Podvasnik home run and six runs over the final three innings. La Roche however stranded runners on second base in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings and Heidelberg held on.
Despite the loss, the Redhawks strength of schedule moves up to the 80th toughest in the nation (out of 380).
La Roche continue their streak of games against ranked teams when they welcome Frostburg State to campus on Saturday. The baseball team's seniors will be honored prior to the game.
