La Roche Head Baseball Coach Named 2015 Chuck Tanner Collegiate Coach of the Year

Chase Rowe, head coach of the La Roche College baseball team, is the 2015 Chuck Tanner Collegiate Baseball Head Coach of the Year.

Coach Rowe will receive his award on Nov. 14 at the ninth annual Chuck Tanner Awards Banquet at the Rivers Club in downtown Pittsburgh. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Pittsburgh, the banquet is named in honor of former major league baseball manager Chuck Tanner who won a World Series with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1979.

"I am honored to receive the 2015 Chuck Tanner Collegiate Baseball Coach of the Year Award," Coach Rowe said. "This award is a true reflection of the hard work and sacrifice of my tremendous assistant coaches, hardworking players and alumni of the past 10 years."

The Chuck Tanner Awards recognize those who represent dedication to sport, excellence and integrity. A prestigious national selection committee determines the award recipients based on the quality of the current season and total career successes.

"Chase has worked very hard to put himself in the position that he is in today. He's one of the best Div. III baseball coaches in the country," La Roche Athletic Director Jim Tinkey said. "He's a great student of the game, an incredible recruiter and a tremendous leader. But most importantly, and what I'm most proud of, is that he's as good a role model as you'll find for the young men he coaches."

At the age of 23 in the fall of 2006, Coach Rowe took over the La Roche College baseball program, making him one of the youngest head coaches in the National College Athletic Association (NCAA). In 2015 he guided La Roche to a school record of 32 wins and an amazing 14-2 record in conference play.

Under the leadership of Rowe, the program has a .591 winning percentage in the past eight seasons. The Redhawks have won three regular season titles and three Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) titles.

In addition to earning the Chuck Tanner Collegiate Baseball Head Coach of the Year Award, Coach Rowe was the American Baseball Coaches Association Regional Coach of the Year, D3Baseball's Mideast Region Coach of the Year and the AMCC Coach of the Year for the fourth time in five seasons.
