Redhawks Pick Up Non-Conference Win at Bethany

BETHANY, WV – The La Roche College Baseball team won for the third time in three days this time defeating PAC foe Bethany College 9-5 in a nine-inning game on Wednesday. La Roche improves to 10-5 on the season.

Joe Professori got things started in the first inning with a 2-run homer over the left field wall. Herstine and Lemley followed with RBI singles in the third and starting pitcher Ethan Lewis held Bethany scoreless by stranding runners over the first four frames.

The Bison found a run in the fifth inning but Lemley and Shane Roebuck provided RBIs in the eighth and Mitchell Yard in the ninth to build an insurmountable lead.

La Roche's middle of the order is on fire right now. Professori finished a triple shy of the cycle and went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and scored twice. Lemley hit in a pair and scored while Corey Lazor scored three runs. Ben Herstine went 2 for 4 with a double, RBI and run and Colin Williamson had 3 hits and scored twice.

Lewis gave up just a run in five innings to register his first career win. Shane Emrich struck out four in two innings of relief while Nick Tunstall threw the final two frames.

La Roche welcomes Marietta, Case Western and Thomas More to campus this weekend for a four-team tournament. The Redhawks play Saturday at 10am and Sunday at 10am and 4pm.
