Baseball's Seven Game Win Streak Ends With Loss at Baldwin Wallace

PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche College baseball team's seven game win streak came to an end on Tuesday after dropping a non-conference game against Baldwin Wallace 11-8. Last Thursday, the Redhawks beat Baldwin Wallace 11-3.

La Roche took advantage of a pair of Baldwin Wallace errors in the top of the first inning. The Redhawks loaded the bases and Luis Navedo scored the opening run on a passed ball. David Lemley put them ahead 2-0 when he crossed home on an error by the second baseman.

Chris Hanlon threw a perfect bottom of the first. Baldwin Wallace however tied it with RBI groundouts in the second and third innings.

Lemley scored again in the fourth on an Ian Velez single through the left side of the infield. The Redhawks looked to tack on more in the inning but a base running error limited the damage.

Catcher Shane Roebuck threw out a base runner in the fourth but Baldwin Wallace put a three spot up in the fifth. A walk and catcher's interference put two men on and the Yellow Jacket's Badia came through with an RBI double to center. An RBI single gave Baldwin Wallace a 5-3 lead after five.

La Roche got one back in the six and two more in the seventh for a 6-5 lead. Ian Velez provided the scoring in the fifth and Lemley the sixth.

Baldwin Wallace answered with six runs over the next three innings. The Redhawks made it interesting in the top of the ninth. They scored twice and had the tying run at the plate before a strikeout ended it.

Lemley continues to swing the bat at a torrid pace. He went 3 for 3 with 3 runs, 2 RBI, a double and a walk.

Velez had 3 hits and 2 RBI while Navedo and Spina scored twice.

The Redhawks opene conference play tomorrow with a double-header at Mt. Aloysius College.
