Baseball Scatters Three Hits Over Sixteen Innings as They Sweep Hilbert 12-0, 7-1

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche baseball improved to 14-6 and 4-0 in the AMCC after sweeping Hilbert College 12-0, 7-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Redhawks allowed just three hits over 16 innings.

Game 1:

Pitchers Tanner Stanz and Jesse Savisky combined to one hit Hilbert as they took the first game 12-0.

The Redhawks scored nine runs in the second inning and cruised from there. Mitchell Yard, Shane Roebuck, EJ Trickett and Jonathan Spina all provided RBI singles in the inning. Luis Navedo was hit by a pitch to advance a runner home while Ian Velez had a 2-run single.

Redhawks' starting pitcher Tanner Stanz did not allow a hit in the first four innings and La Roche tacked on two more in the fifth. Velez added his third RBI of the game in the fifth and Mitchel Yard continued his hot batting with a run-scoring double.

Joe Professori added an RBI single in the sixth scoring Corey Lazor. Jesse Savisky threw two scoreless innings of relief.

Velez hit in three and scored twice. Yard went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and scored while Professori scored twice.

Game 2:

Lazor tripled and scored in the first inning and Navedo doubled and scored for a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Hilbert grinded out a run in the top of the fourth on a hit-by-pitch, error, and RBI groundout.

Yard immediately answered the call in the bottom of the fourth blasting a solo shot for his fourth home run of the year.

Yard tripled home Velez in the fifth inning for a 4-1 lead. Spina then led off the sixth inning with a single. He stole second, was hit over to third, and scored on a balk. Later in the sixth, Professori came through with a 2-out RBI single.

Spina singled home Yard for a 7-1 lead in the seventh.

Ethan Lewis did not give up an earned run and scattered just two hits in five innings. Tre Thomas, Cole Cogley and Shane Emrich combined for three scoreless innings. Yard finished just a single short of registering his second cycle in as many days.

La Roche will host Pitt-Greensburg on Tuesday in an AMCC Conference double-header.
