#13 La Roche Splits With Behrend, Finishes One Victory Shy Of Perfect AMCC Season

ERIE, PA -- The La Roche Baseball team finished just one win short of a perfect AMCC season after splitting with Penn State Behrend on Saturday. The Redhawks clinched the AMCC Regular Season and will host the conference tournament.

Game 1: La Roche took Game One 7-4. Starting pitcher Regis Sauer was terrific holding Behrend to just one baserunner over the first five innings. Sauer kept the Redhawks in the game because the La Roche offense could not get it going early.

The Redhawks broke the scoreless tie with four runs in the fifth. Shane Roebuck and EJ Trickett both singled before a Jon Spina 2-out hit up the middle made it 1-0. Joe Professori followed with a single scoring Trickett while Luis Navedo hit in two in the next at bat.

Behrend finally got to Sauer with two runs in the sixth. The Redhawks answered with three more runs in the seventh.

A Professori sac fly scored Mitchel Yard and an error allowed Trickett to cross home plate. David Lemley drew a walk to load the bases and Ian Velez followed with a walk to score Spina.

Sauer tossed a scoreless eighth to improve to a perfect 8-0 on the season.

Game 2: Both teams struggled to manufacture runs as Behrend took Game Two 3-1.

The Redhawks got on the board first with a run in the fourth. Lemley hit a 1-out double to center and scored on a Velez single to left.

Starting pitcher Nick Tunstall was excellent tossing seven scoreless innings. He helped preserve the Redhawk lead stranding runners in scoring position in the fifth and seventh.

Behrend came back with three runs in the eighth. A 2-run double and RBI single provided the damage.
