PITTSBURGH, PA – Four Redhawks scored in double figures as La Roche Men's Basketball (19-8) beat DeSales University (15-12) 78-68 to advance to their first-ever ECAC South Tournament Semifinal.
La Roche trailed by as many as 6 points halfway through the first half before going on a run to take a 44-39 halftime lead. The Redhawks used the fast break to take control of the game and finished the first half with 32 of their 44 points coming in the paint.
The Redhawks continued their success in the second half by running the floor. La Roche forced 13 second half turnovers and outscored DeSales 15-3 off turnovers in the second half.
David Jackson led La Roche with 19 points on 9 of 15 shooting and grabbed 9 rebounds. Andre Flanigan and Mike Dixon scored 18 points and 17 points respectively and each recorded 7 steals. Derek Barber-Richards finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Oneal Brown added 4 blocks.
The Redhawks outscored visiting DeSales 52-30 in the paint and 28-6 off of turnovers. La Roche also forced 21 turnovers while giving up the ball a season-low 8 times.
La Roche will travel to Huntington, PA (Juniata College) to take on Catholic University in the ECAC South Tournament Semifinal. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30PM on Saturday.
