For the third consecutive year the Mars High School Basketball Alumni Golf Outing is a great success.
Earlier this summer, Jim Lees combined with Pittsburgh North Golf Course to manage the event and raise proceeds for the Scott Lang Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year's golf outing helped raise $1700 for the fund which brings the three year total to just under $6000.
Lees, a Professional Golf Management Coordinator at SUNY Delhi and a close friend of Coach Lang, organized the outing for the third straight year. Lees wanted to organize an event to show support for the Lang family and La Roche College.
"I am pleased that we are able to get together on an annual basis to remember Scott. It is a great way to keep his spirit alive and raise a little money for the Scott Lang Memorial Scholarship Fund that is given annually to a student at La Roche College."
In addition to raising funds for a great cause, friends of Coach Lang had a great time getting together and sharing their stories.
"Many that participate in the outing have fond memories of playing golf with Scott. He enjoyed the game immensely and always liked playing at this years' venue-Pittsburgh North Golf Club in Bakerstown. I am grateful to Scott's family, friends, high school basketball teammates, colleagues, and those affiliated with La Roche College for making this event successful."
Participants from La Roche College included a foursome of Jim Tinkey, JD Tinkey, Chase Rowe and Jimmy Finley, and a basketball foursome of Andy Bott, Josh Rulnick, Andy Tressler, and Jimmy Bott.
