BEAVER FALLS, PA – Andre Flanigan hit a running layup with three seconds left as the La Roche men's basketball team (2-2) upended Geneva (2-3) 73-72 in non-conference action on Saturday.
Geneva led by as many as 7 points in the second half and held a 72-68 lead with 1:04 left in regulation, but Lionel Perkins hit a deep three to get the Redhawks within one.
The Golden Tornadoes tried to drain the clock on the next possession but La Roche made a terrific defensive stand which set up Flanigan's winning basket with 3 seconds left.
Jackson grabbed 8 boards and tied a career-high with 20 points on 8 of 11 from the field. Flanigan scored 19 points including the game winner while Perkins and Zaire Redding registered 8 points each.
La Roche shot 62% from the floor and went 5 for 12 from beyond the arc. They also outscored Geneva 50-28 in the paint.
La Roche men's hoops will travel to Penn State Altoona on Wednesday, December 4 for their AMCC opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 6PM.
