ALTOONA, PA – La Roche men's basketball (3-2, 1-0) opened AMCC Conference play with an 82-73 victory over Penn State Altoona (2-3, 0-1) on Wednesday night.
The Redhawks played terrific defense and held Altoona to just 14% from the field to build a 35-19 halftime lead. La Roche's success continued into the second half as they ran to the conference opening victory.
David Jackson led all scorers with 23 points and 11 rebounds and went 8 for 12 from the field. Lionel Perkins scored 19 points and hit 4 three pointers and Andre Flanigan netted 15 points and a career-best 9 assists. Jean Freeman had 10 points and 6 rebounds while Evan Bonnaure and Sterling Henry each notched their first career points.
The Redhawks shot 56% from the field and hit 7 of 14 shots from behind the arc. They also made 13 of 14 free throws in the second half and assisted on 21 of 29 field goals.
The men's basketball team will take on 3-time AMCC Champion Medaille when they come to town on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2PM.
