PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche men's basketball (9-6, 5-3) fell to the defending AMCC Conference champion Penn State Behrend Lions (12-2, 6-1) 60-44 on Saturday at the Fitness Center.
Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half as Penn State Behrend carried a 27-17 lead into intermission. Seven Redhawks got on the scoreboard including Zaire Redding who led the team with 4 points. Andre Flanigan grabbed 6 rebounds in the first half.
Penn State Behrend started to heat up in the second half. They shot 55% from the field and 88% from the free throw line over the final twenty minutes to hold on for the victory.
Lionel Perkins finished with a team-high 11 points and Andre Flanigan added 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Torin Smith hit a trio of 3-pointers while Neal McKown registered 8 points and 5 rebounds. Zaire Redding had 6 points and 2 assists in the loss.
The visiting Lions outrebounded La Roche 43-31 but the Redhawks held the advantage on the offensive glass. Both teams limited turnovers to just 8 on the game.
La Roche returns to action on Monday at 6PM when they host Pitt-Greensburg. The Bobcats are coming off a 90-82 loss to AMCC #1 Hilbert.
