ERIE, PA – La Roche men's basketball (12-11, 8-8) dropped an important AMCC Conference game to Penn State Behrend (19-4, 13-3) 69-49 on Saturday. The Redhawks however still hold onto the sixth spot in the AMCC Conference with Mt. Aloysius' loss to Pitt-Bradford today.
Penn State Behrend played tough team defense to hold the Redhawks to 22% from the field in the first half and the Lions entered the locker room with a 34-14 lead.
La Roche went on a 10-2 run early in the second half to cut the deficit but Penn State Behrend held on for the victory.
Lionel Perkins and Zaire Redding each scored 10 points while Daron Tabron and Andre Flanigan added 8 points apiece. David Jackson had 6 points and 10 rebounds as he and Flanigan inched closer to 1000 career points. Jackson currently sits at 996 career points while Flanigan has 986 points.
The Redhawks held a significant rebounding advantage but made only 16 of 48 field goals while Penn State Behrend shot 52% in the game.
The loss drops La Roche to 8-8 and sixth place in the AMCC while Penn State Behrend improves to 13-3.
La Roche will travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday for an important conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 6PM.
