GREENSBURG, PA – Andre Flanigan and David Jackson both scored their 1000th career point as the Redhawks (13-11, 9-8) picked up a big AMCC Conference win on Wednesday night. La Roche defeated Pitt-Greensburg (12-12, 10-7) 68-64 to hold onto sixth place in the AMCC Conference with one game left.
The Redhawks were on fire to start the game and ran out to a 16-3 lead. Their defense keyed the hot start and they held Pitt-Greensburg to just one field goal in the first eleven minutes of the game.
The host Bobcats slowly worked their way back into the game and entered the half with a 29-28 lead. La Roche received offensive and defensive contributions from all over the floor in the first half including Lionel Perkins who scored 8 points and Jackson who grabbed 5 rebounds.
It was Pitt-Greensburg's turn to start hot early in the second half but the Redhawks kept it close and went ahead on a pair of big threes by Jackson and Flanigan. The Bobcats answered with two free throws and a layup to cut the deficit to two with just 47 seconds to play, but Perkins and Torin Smith combined to go 7 for 8 from the foul line down the stretch to hold on for the big win.
Flanigan and Jackson both had big games on the road to reach the 1000 point milestone. Flanigan scored a team-high 22 points and went 8 for 12 from the field while Jackson added 7 points and 10 rebounds. Lionel Perkins netted 18 points including four important and Zaire Redding contributed 10 points and 4 rebounds.
The Redhawks can clinch a spot in the AMCC Tournament with a win over Hilbert on Saturday. A senior day presentation will take place prior to tip-off.
