PITTSBURGH, PA – Torin Smith scored a season-high 17 points and made 4 three-pointers in La Roche's 69-58 loss to Geneva College on Saturday afternoon.
The Redhawks ended the first half on a 6-0 run and entered intermission down just 28-25. They shot a solid 48% in the first half and outrebounded the visitors by six.
La Roche took back the lead early in the second half thanks to seven straight points by Zaire Redding. Geneva answered with a 5-0 run and held on for the non-conference win.
In addition to Smith's terrific performance, Redding contributed 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting and Arnez Bajgora had 11 points and 9 rebounds. Andres Abreu finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds for La Roche.
Despite the loss, the Redhawks had a 28-23 advantage on the glass and shot 47% from the floor. However, they turned the ball over thirteen times and Geneva attempted twenty-nine free throws.
Men's hoops will open AMCC Conference play on Wednesday when they welcome Penn State Altoona to the Fitness Center. Tip-off is 8PM.
