PITTSBURGH, PA – The men's basketball team fell to AMCC Conference foe Medaille College 73-58 on Sunday at the Kerr Fitness Center.
Ryan Frantz led La Roche with 13 points and 3 three-pointers in the first half but the Redhawks entered halftime trailing 41-27. Despite the deficit, La Roche outrebounded Medaille 18-11 with Andy Abreu pulling down 6 boards and Arnez Bajgora 5 boards.
Zaire Redding had an impressive second half contributing 6 points and 7 rebounds but the Redhawks were unable to overcome the deficit in the fifteen point defeat.
Frantz finished with a team-high 21 points and hit 5 of 9 shots from beyond the arc. Redding (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Bajgora (12 points, 10 rebounds) both registered double-doubles and Abreu pulled down 9 rebounds.
The Redhawks outrebounded Medaille 36-24 and outscored them by twelve on second chance points. However, the Mavericks were very efficient on offense hitting 57% of their shots and assisting on 19 of 26 field goals.
La Roche retakes the court on Wednesday when they host Pitt-Greensburg. The Bobcats are 5-1 in conference and coming off a big win over Penn State Behrend.
