Redhawks Nearly Pull Upset, Fall to Greensburg 86-84

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Redhawks nearly upset AMCC Conference foe Pitt-Greensburg before falling 86-84 on Wednesday night at the Fitness Center. La Roche led by as many as twelve points in the second half before the Bobcats put together a late comeback.

La Roche trailed 45-40 at intermission but Ryan Frantz hit four three-pointers and the Redhawks blocked seven shots.

The home squad came out of the locker room in a zone and it immediately paid dividends. Zaire Redding provided two key blocks and Frantz hit 3 three-pointers to give La Roche a seven point lead with ten minutes left. The Redhawks extended the lead to as many as twelve before Greensburg came back and took a two point lead with two seconds remaining. La Roche had a great last look at the basket with the ball hanging on the rim for what felt like ages, but Greensburg held on for the comeback win.

Arnes Bajgora finished with a double-double (22 points, 12 rebounds) while Frantz also scored 22 points and hit 7 three-pointers. Zaire Redding registered 19 points (8 of 9 FG), 8 rebounds and 5 steals in the loss.

La Roche shot 48% on the game and 56% in the second half. They outrebounded Greensburg by ten and recorded their most blocks (11) in over five years.

The Redhawks will travel to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday for an AMCC Conference game. The Panthers have won four straight games.
