Comeback Falls Short in Loss to D'Youville

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche twice put together second half comebacks, but they were unable to get past D'Youville falling 77-65 on Saturday afternoon.

The Redhawks committed just three turnovers in the first half and Arnes Bajgora scored 13 points but La Roche entered intermission trailing 37-30.

La Roche came out of the locker room on a tear. They hit 5 of their first 7 shots including 2 three-pointers to tie it at 48-48. Zaire Redding's fastbreak dunk highlighted the run, but D'Youville responded with a 10-2 run and hung on for the win.

Bajgora led the Redhawks with a game-high 28 points while hitting 11 of 16 shots.  Zaire Redding finished just a point short of a double-double (9 points, 11 rebounds) and Mikal Boykin had a strong game in his first collegiate start (7 points). Dion Etheridge grabbed 5 rebounds and Torin Smith provided 4 assists.

Despite the loss, La Roche turned the ball over just ten times and the team shot a solid 78% (18 of 23).

The Redhawks do not play until Saturday when they travel up to Hilbert College. The Hawks have won two straight.
