GREENSBURG, PA – Arnes Bajgora registered his fourth double-double of the season but the Redhawks dropped a 71-64 contest to Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday.
La Roche played their best half of the season and Bajgora drained a three at the buzzer to give La Roche a 33-26 lead at intermission. Zaire Redding and Mikal Boykin led the Redhawks with 8 first half points while Bajgora added 7 points. Jaewon Mitchell and Dion Etheridge each pulled down 6 rebounds and La Roche held Pitt-Greensburg to just 31% from the field.
The Redhawks upped their lead to as many as seven points in the second half thanks to three straight layups by Bajgora. Greensburg responded to tie it at 52-52 with 7:52 left to play before a 12-0 run put the game away.
Bajgora (19 points, 13 rebounds) and Redding (16 points, 8 rebounds) each had strong games while Mikal Boykin (10 points) registered his first career double digit game. Mitchell (9 rebounds) and Etheridge (8 rebounds) helped the Redhawks win the battle on the boards (47-37).
The game was a story of two halves with the Bobcats shooting a solid 57% in the second half. Conversely, the Redhawks went 0 for 10 from three-point range in the second after a strong first half.
The Redhawks will play their final home game of the season on Saturday when they host Pitt-Bradford. Tip-off is 3PM.
