MARIETTA, OH – The men's basketball team took the road on Friday night to play the nation's sixth ranked team Catholic University. The Redhawks brought a tough and aggressive defense for all forty minutes but ultimately fell to one of the country's top programs 84-65 in the 45th Annual Marietta Shrine Tournament. This marks the hardest opening schedule in school history with La Roche following an NCAA Division I game with a top 10 opponent.
The Redhawks received contributions from most of their lineup but the upperclassmen led the way. Evan Bonnaure followed his career-high 16 points against Longwood with 13 points on 5 of 10 from the field. AMCC Newcomer of the Year Arnes Bagjora had his second straight double-figure game with 15 points and 8 rebounds while Ray Quan Phifer dished out 4 assists.
The Redhawks went toe to toe on the boards with Catholic with each team bringing down 32 rebounds. La Roche always had a strong performance on the foul line converting 16 of 19 free throws.
La Roche will play either #11 Marietta or Methodist tomorrow in the tournament's consolation game. Tip-off is 5pm.
