HAMBURG, NY – The Redhawks dropped a game to the AMCC's top team, falling to Hilbert College 95-82 in an offensive battle on Saturday afternoon. La Roche's Darrell Barron scored a team-high 16 points in the loss.
Hilbert ended the half with nine straight points to take control of a close game. The Redhawks outplayed the hosts in the second half but the deficit was just too much for them to overcome.
Despite the loss, La Roche outscored Hilbert off of turnovers (28-17), second chance points (15-3), fastbreak points (14-5) and off the bench (49-48). Hilbert however was more efficient from the field and foul line. They hit an incredible 36 of 41 free throws.
Barron's 16 points were a career-high. Arnes Bajgora finished with 13 points (9 of 12 free throws) and 7 rebounds while Evan Bonnaure also scored 13 points. Torin Smith hit 3 three-pointers in the loss.
The Redhawks will travel to Medaille tomorrow for a big conference game. La Roche sits a game ahead of the Mavericks and in fourth place in the AMCC.
