La Roche Scores Most Points Since 2011 in 101-85 Win Over Franciscan

STEUBENVILLE, OH -- The men's basketball team concluded the first half of the AMCC schedule with a 101-85 win over Franciscan University on Monday night. The Redhawks improve to 6-3 in conference after scoring their most points in a game since 2011.

La Roche held a commanding 52-38 lead at intermission and the fifty-two points were their most this season at halftime (scored 51 against Mt. Aloysius). Arnes Bajgora continued his red-hot shooting with 22 points (8 of 10 FG) in the first half. Both teams were efficient from the floor with each connecting on 56% of their shots, La Roche however went a perfect 11 for 11 from the free throw line to enter the half up fourteen points.

The closest Franciscan came to catching the Redhawks was when they got within 9 points with 18:22 left. La Roche then proceeded to build up a 22 lead point lead and cruise to the 101-85 victory.

Bajgora finished with a game-high 35 points (13 of 18 FG) and went 8 for 8 from the charity stripe. The sophomore center is averaging 27.3 points over the past three games.

Ray Quan Phifer and Dion Etheridge continued their strong all-around play with Phifer providing 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Etheridge 11 points and 6 rebounds. Zach Gould scored 10 points in the win.

La Roche was spectacular from the free throw line converting on 23 of 24 shots.

The Redhawks will host Penn State Altoona on Thursday at 6pm. La Roche beat the Lions 72-69 in their meeting earlier this season.
