BRADFORD, PA – Pitt-Bradford missed three of four free throws down the stretch to keep the Redhawks alive, but La Roche missed a three-pointer at the buzzer to fall just short in their 68-65 loss on Saturday. The men's basketball team has already clinched a playoff berth and are playing for seeding. The Redhawks can finish anywhere between third and fifth place.
La Roche led 57-55 with 8:15 left but Bradford held them scoreless over the next five minutes to go up 65-57. The Redhawks responded with eight points from the foul line but the missed three-pointer kept them from completing the comeback.
Arnes Bajogra led the Redhawks with 20 points (8 of 9 FT) to go along with 7 rebounds. Andy Abreu finished with a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) while Evan Bonnaure and Ryan Norkus each had 9 points. Zach Gould dished out three assists for La Roche.
Both teams shot the ball well. Bradford held a slight edge hitting 50% (25 of 50) of their shots to the Redhawks 40% (21 of 52) but La Roche was solid from three-point range converting a season-high 44% (8 of 18). Bradford and La Roche were nearly identical on the boards with the home squad winning the battle 33-32.
The Redhawks will host Franciscan next Wednesday at 8pm. La Roche can clinch an AMCC Quarterfinal home game with a win and a Medaille loss at Pitt-Bradford.
