CLEVELAND, OH -- The La Roche men's basketball team closed the early portion of their difficult non-conference schedule falling at #11 John Carroll 107-82 on Saturday evening. The Redhawks still play two non-conference games but will open AMCC Conference play on Wednesday against Franciscan University.
The Redhawks caught fire in the early portion of the game. They opened on a 7-0 run and used the deep ball to build their lead up to twelve points with 8:37 left in the first. John Carroll inched their way back into the game and hit a three just twenty seconds before halftime to take their first lead.
John Carroll opened the second half on a 16-1 run to take control of the game. They made 8 of 12 three-pointers in the second half while La Roche cooled off hitting just 2 of 8.
Zach Gould was excellent scoring 17 points (6 for 9) and dishing out 4 assists. Arnes Bajgora (14 points) and Ryan Norkus (11 points) both finished in double figures while Dion Etheridge pulled down 10 boards.
John Carroll won the rebounding battle (42-33) and outscored La Roche in the paint (48-28) and off of turnovers (26-9).
Wednesday's AMCC opener against Franciscan is an 8pm tip.
