Redhawks Extend Win-Streak to Nine, Remain Perfect in AMCC

PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche men's basketball team ran their win-streak to nine games and improved to a perfect 7-0 in the AMCC after defeating Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday night. The Redhawks beat the defending AMCC Champions 85-48.

The Bobcats hung with La Roche for the early part of the first half but the Redhawks eventually started to pull away. Dion Etheridge sparked the run with an up and under and Ryan Norkus hit a fastbreak three-pointer to take a six point lead.

Pitt-Greensburg burned a timeout to straighten things out but Evan Bonnaure took a steal coast to coast and Rayquan Phifer drained an uncontested three pointer for a fifteen point lead. La Roche ran their lead to as many as twenty-two points on an Etheridge three and carried a 51-29 lead into the half.

The Redhawks' success continued into the second half. La Roche slowed down the pace with a more halfcourt style game but still forced a bunch of turnovers in the open court. Halfway through the first, Phifer forced a turnover, drove the court and picked up a three-point play.

La Roche turned to their younger players with the game already in their favor. The Redhawks were able to extend their lead and cruise to the win.

Every Redhawk registered points including Bajgora who had 16 points and 9 rebounds. Phifer, Bonnaure and Etheridge all scored 12 points. Phifer also had 5 steals and Norkus had 9 points and 8 rebounds.

La Roche outrebounded Pitt-Greensburg 43-31 and won the turnover battle 18-7.

The Redhawks return to the court on Saturday against D'Youville College. D'Youville is 4-9 overall and 3-3 in the AMCC.
