Hamill Scores Twice in Loss to Wheeling Jesuit

WHEELING, WV – La Roche Lacrosse (1-2) dropped their second consecutive game with a 16-6 loss to Wheeling Jesuit (1-1), a NCAA Division II school from The East Coast Conference.

The Redhawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead half way through the first quarter when Matt Hamill buried his sixth goal of the season. Wheeling Jesuit responded by scoring the next three goals before Jean-Guillaume Thouin scored with 9 seconds left in the quarter to cut the deficit to two.

Wheeling Jesuit took control of the contest in the second and third quarters outscoring the Redhawks 10-1 and outshooting them 35-9.

Matt Hamill finished with two goals for a team-leading seven for the season. TJ Leo, Shawn Teixeira, and Torron Coleman each recorded the first goals of their careers. Goalkeeper Eugene LaBorde made 19 saves in the loss.

Despite the loss, the Redhawks had a season-high 44 ground balls.

La Roche Lacrosse will host Neumann University (0-1) on Saturday, March 12 at 1:00PM. Neumann is coming off of an 11-6 loss to King's College.
