Lacrosse Falls in Inaugural Game at Redhawks' Field
PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Lacrosse (1-3) lost their inaugural game at Redhawks' Field with a 9-7 loss to Shorter University (4-1).
The Redhawks opened the game with three straight goals. Matt Hammill scored less than two minutes into the contest and Dustin Reykdal added a goal a minute later. Reykdal assisted on Kiel Morris' goal to make it 3-0.
Shorter scored four unanswered goals before Steve Murphy tied the game at 4-4. The Redhawks took a 6-5 lead halfway through the second half but could not hold it despite dominating in shots.
Dustin Reykdal recorded his first career hat trick and four other Redhawks registered goals. Arsalan Arabani won 13 of 18 faceoffs and Eugene LaBorde made eleven saves in the loss.
The Redhawks led in shots 40-28 and ground balls 50-32 but could not stay out of the penalty box. La Roche committed nine penalties to Shorter's three.
La Roche Lacrosse will play Bethany University on Saturday, March 19 at 11:00 AM at Robert Morris University (Moon, PA). Bethany is coming off of a 9-0 loss to Alvernia College.
