Thouin Nets 5 Goals, 3 Assists in Victory Over Medaille
PITTSBURGH, PA – Jean-Guillaume Thouin registered a career-high 8 points and Eugene LaBorde made 17 saves as La Roche Men's Lacrosse (1-2) beat Medaille College (0-2) 11-7 in their home-opener on Sunday afternoon.
Thouin got the scoring started with a pair of first period goals and then found the back of the net a little over five minutes into the second to give La Roche a 3-0 lead. Jon Monahan, Mike DiMarco, Dom Deltando, and Garrett Fraser all netted first half goals and LaBorde made 7 stops as La Roche took a 7-0 lead into halftime.
Medaille came out of the locker room with two quick goals but Thouin answered with his fourth and fifth of the game to go up 9-2. Monahan and Sean Clarke also scored second half goals as the Redhawks held on for the 11-7 victory.
Thouin finished with 5 goals and 3 assists while Deltando added a goal and 2 assists. Monahan scored twice and Clark, DiMarco, and Fraser all had one apiece. Bryce Wells had a helper in the victory.
Thouin won 8 of 17 faceoffs while DiMarco won 3 of 5. Thouin also picked up 8 ground balls and Nate Marsh had 6. LaBorde made 17 saves for the Redhawks.
La Roche Lacrosse will return to action on Friday when they host Alfred State. This is the first meeting between the schools.
