PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche men's lacrosse (2-4) dropped a 14-3 game to Frostburg State (7-2) on a cold and windy Wednesday afternoon on campus.
The visiting Bobcats got on the board first but Johnny Monahan tied things up at 1-1 when he scored on a quality feed from Mike DiMarco with 2:28 left in the first quarter. Frostburg State added a goal late in the first and one early in the second before Jean-Guillaume Thouin answered with a pair of goals to even things at 3-3 with 5:52 left in the half. However, Frostburg scored twice before halftime and went on to get the 14-3 victory.
Thouin finished with 2 goals and Monahan had one. Bryce Wells and DiMarco each had a helper and Monahan and Braden Sparks forced two turnovers apiece. Eugene LaBorde made 22 saves and collected 8 ground balls while Dom Deltando had 6 ground balls and Monahan had 5 ground balls.
The Redhawks finished with 22 shots including 12 shots on goal. They picked up 35 ground balls and forced 6 turnovers.
La Roche Lacrosse will travel to Baldwin Wallace on Saturday to take on the Yellow Jackets. Baldwin Wallace is 4-2 and coming off a 14-11 defeat to Thiel College.
