Lacrosse Upended by Hilbert in Season Finale

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche men's lacrosse overcame a five goal deficit to tie the game late but ultimately fell to Hilbert College 15-12 on senior day at Shaler Area High School.

The visiting Hawks led 9-4 with 3:37 left in the first half before stringing together five consecutive goals to tie it late in the third quarter. Bryce Wells sparked the run when he beat the Hilbert goalkeeper with just 16 seconds left in the half and Dustin Reykdal followed 7 seconds later when he won the faceoff and scored. Crawford Healy and Dom Deltando opened the half with goals and Wells tallied another with 3:48 left in the third to tie it. Hilbert responded with a pair of goals and held on for the win.

Wells finished with a career-high 4 goals and added a helper while Dustin Reykdal had 2 goals and an assist. Crawford Healey scored twice and Jean Thouin provided 2 assists. Sean Clark, Dom Deltando, Jonny Monahan, and Mike DiMarco each scored a goal for the Redhawks.

Reykdal went 12-5 in the faceoff circle and picked up 8 ground balls. Eugene LaBorde, Jean Thouin, and James McKee all forced 2 turnovers for La Roche.

Hilbert's goalkeeper Brendan Deady made 24 saves and their attackman Matthew Simon had 3 goals and 3 assists.

La Roche outshot Hilbert an incredible 60-31. They also limited their turnovers to just ten and picked up and won the faceoff battle 19-10.
