D'Uva's PK Lifts Redhawks to 1-0 Win

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche defender, Mark D'Uva, scored on a penalty kick with 19.8 seconds left in the first half to lift the Redhawks (5-2) to a 1-0 win over St. Vincent College (1-5). The win improves La Roche's home record to 4-1.

D'Uva's penalty kick came after Chad Trozzi drew a foul inside the 18-yard box. Trozzi drove past a Bearcat defender but was tripped up with a clear path to the goal. It was the first penalty kick the Redhawks have attempted this season.

Goalkeeper, Michael Brunozzi, recorded his second shutout of the season while D'Uva, Greg Ceravolo, Robert Fraino, and Kevin McCarthy played stellar defense in front of him.

D'Uva, Yousef Barqawi, and Chad Trozzi combined for fourteen shots as the Redhawks outshot St. Vincent 23-13. La Roche also had a 13-4 advantage on corner kicks.

La Roche Men's Soccer will travel to Westminster College (1-3) on Tuesday, September 20 at 9:00PM. Last season the Redhawks fell to Westminster 4-0.
