Weimerskirch Records Six Points in 5-4 OT Loss

ERIE, PA – Bryan Weimerskirch had a career-high six points but La Roche men's soccer (6-3) could not hold onto a two goal lead as they fell to Penn St. Behrend (3-4-1) 5-4 in overtime. The loss ends the Redhawks three game winning streak and drops their overtime record to 2-1.

La Roche struck first when Adam Minnaugh buried a Weimerskirch pass and carried a 3-1 lead into halftime. Weimerskirch put La Roche up 4-2 before the host Lions stormed back with two goals in the final two minutes and the eventual overtime winner.

Weimerskirch finished with two goals and two assists and Chad Trozzi added a goal and an assist. Minnaugh recorded a goal and Michael Brunozzi made seven saves.

The Redhawks led for 65 minutes despite being outshot 21-9. La Roche also converted four of their five shots on goal into goals.

The Redhawks will continue AMCC Conference play on Tuesday when they host Mt. Aloysius College. Last season La Roche defeated the Mounties 3-0 in Cresson, PA.
