Lady Redhawks Suffer First AMCC Loss in Split With Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, PA – The Lady Redhawks (11-11, 7-1) split a double-header with host Pitt-Bradford (7-11, 5-1) 3-1, 11-7 in an AMCC Conference game at the Kessel Complex on Sunday. La Roche's loss in the second game of the double-header is their first in conference play and snaps a seven game winning streak.

The Lady Redhawks scored on three unearned runs to beat the Panthers in game one 3-1.

Starting pitcher Kara Jo Egelsky earned her fourth consecutive win after throwing a complete game for the fourth time in as many games. Egelsky went the full seven innings allowing one run on three hits while striking out six batters. Egelsky currently sports a 4-0 record with a 0.75 ERA in AMCC Conference play.

Ashley Baron led the Lady Redhawks with two hits and two RBI. Baron, Jodi Walsh, and Cara Giannandrea scored La Roche's only runs in the win.

The Lady Redhawks scored a run in each of the first six innings of game two but that was not enough as La Roche fell 11-7.

The Lady Redhawks trailed 7-6 heading into the seventh inning when Cara Giannandrea scored on an error by the Panther's first baseman. Sydnie Martin hit a hard ground ball to the first baseman who bobbled it allowing Giannandrea to score from second base and tie it at 7-7. Martin then stole second base with one out, but the next two batters got out to strand Martin at second base.

Host Pitt-Bradford answered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for the win.

Starting pitcher Deanna Tritinger allowed four runs on seven hits in three innings. Samantha Colton recorded the loss in three innings of relief work.

Amanda Varhula finished with three hits including her third home run of the season. Amber Steenbeke and Cara Giannandrea each scored two runs in the loss.

The Lady Redhawks will host Franciscan University on Wednesday, April 13 before traveling to Case Western Reserve on Thursday, April 14.
