PITTSBURGH, PA – Kim McLay hit a walk-off inside the park home run to end Game 1 and pace the Lady Redhawks (9-7, 2-2) to a double-header sweep of Hilbert College (5-10, 1-5) 11-3, 13-8 on Saturday in AMCC Conference play.
Kayle Zozos broke up a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning of Game 1 with a three-run triple. The Lady Redhawks added two more in the inning to take a 7-2 lead. La Roche and Hilbert traded runs in the fifth inning before McLay's heroics in the sixth provided the Lady Redhawks with an 11-3 win.
Game 1's starting pitcher, Deanna Tritinger, held Hilbert to 3 runs (2 earned runs) on 7 hits. The Lady Redhawks finished with 14 hits including 4 by Jodi Walsh. Kaylee Zozos scored twice and provided 3 RBI and Kim McLay added 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Alexandra Spain went 2 for 4 with a run and 2 RBI in the win.
La Roche scored 3 runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to break open a close Game 2 and defeat Hilbert 13-8. Kim McLay led the Redhawk offense with 4 hits and scored three times while Jodi Walsh finished with 2 hits, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Kiersten Lorditch, Alexandra Spain, and Kacey Haluska finished with 2 RBI each for the Lady Redhawks. Mareya Justice threw all 7 innings to record the win.
