ERIE, PA – La Roche women's basketball (7-1, 4-0) held Penn State Behrend (6-2, 3-1) to 30% shooting as they topped the Lady Lions 51-39 to take over first-place in the AMCC Conference.
The Lady Redhawks ended the first-half on a 9-2 run after playing a closely contested first fifteen minutes. La Roche went on a 7-0 run to open the second half and extend their lead to fourteen points before both teams traded baskets late. The Lady Redhawks shot 40% from the field and allowed only seven field goals in the second half.
Penn State Behrend's Holly Bourquin scored a game-high 15 points in the loss.
The Lady Redhawks forced 25 turnovers including 15 turnovers off steals. La Roche also held the Lady Lions scoreless from three-point range (0 for 11).
The Lady Redhawks will travel to Point Park University on Tuesday, December 20 for a rematch with the Pioneers. La Roche lost to Point Park 58-51 on November 17 at the Kerr Fitness Center.
