Lady Redhawks Win Defensive Battle Against Medaille

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Lady Redhawks (10-3, 7-0) took sole possession of first place in the AMCC Conference with a 47-38 win over Medaille College (9-4, 5-2) in a rematch of the 2011 AMCC Championship game.

Both La Roche and the visiting Mavericks got off to slow starts offensively finishing the first half shooting just 20%. Despite the slow start, the Lady Redhawks attempted forty first half shots and converted five 3-pointers. La Roche also forced 13 turnovers to take an 11 point lead into the half.

The Lady Redhawks shot the ball better in the second half and dominated the glass with 17 boards. Jessica Pitts finished with 7 points and 7 rebounds in the final frame.

Amanda Garland and Shanae Daye led La Roche with 9 points apiece, including three 3-pointers from Daye. Pitts added 7 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals, and Ariel Green finished with 4 assists.

Medaille's Tanisha Travis had 15 points and 23 rebounds in a losing effort.

The Lady Redhawks will travel to Carnegie Mellon on Tuesday night before returning to AMCC Conference action Saturday at Pitt-Bradford.
