CRESSON, PA – Three Lady Redhawks scored in double figures to guide La Roche women's basketball (13-4, 10-0) to a 66-41 win over Mt. Aloysius (7-9, 5-5) on Thursday night. The Lady Redhawks are off to their best start in school history and currently sit atop the AMCC Conference standings.
La Roche ended the half on a 9-0 run to take a 19 point lead into the locker room. Points off turnovers sparked the charge as the Lady Redhawks outscored Mt. Aloysius 17-1 off turnovers in the first half.
La Roche's success continued in the second half by controlling the glass. The Lady Redhawks out-rebounded Mt. Aloysius by eleven in the final 20 minutes.
Jessica Pitts and Ja'Nia McPhatter scored 12 points apiece to lead all scorers. Pitts also led La Roche with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Casie Cygan followed her record-setting performance on Monday with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Chloe' Stewart had 4 assists in the win.
The Lady Redhawks held Mt. Aloysius to 26% shooting and forced 25 turnovers. La Roche also outscored the Mounties 24-1 off turnovers and 38-10 in the paint.
La Roche women's basketball will travel to Hilbert College on Saturday to take on the Hawks. Tip-off is set for 4:00PM.
