PITTSBURGH, PA – Jessica Pitts recorded her fifth double-double of the season and Ja'Nia McPhatter scored 12 points in her first collegiate start as the Lady Redhawks (21-5, 17-1) cruised to a 77-46 win over Mt. Aloysius (15-12, 11-7) in the AMCC Tournament Semifinal. La Roche advances to the AMCC Championship game for the second consecutive year with the victory.
McPhatter helped the Lady Redhawks sprint out to a 17-1 lead to start the game. McPhatter recorded 6 points, 2 steals, 2 assists, and 2 blocks in the first five minutes while La Roche went 7 for 8 from the field.
The Lady Redhawks success continued in the second half by distributing the ball. La Roche assisted on nine of their twelve made baskets.
Ariel Green led the Lady Redhawks with 16 points and Ja'Nia McPhatter added 12 points, 8 boards, and 5 steals. Jessica Pitts finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Green, McPhatter, and Pitts all recorded 4 assists.
La Roche out-rebounded the visiting Mounties 42-32 and enjoyed their second best shooting performance of the season (47.5%). The Lady Redhawks also outscored Mt. Aloysius 34-14 in the paint and 18-2 on the fast break.
The Lady Redhawks will play Medaille College on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 3:00PM at the Kerr Fitness Center. It is a rematch of last year's AMCC Championship game when La Roche beat the Mavericks 62-54.
