Lady Redhawks Set School Mark With 43 Field Goals in Win Over Mt. Aloysius

PITTSBURGH, PA – Casie Cygan scored a career-high 31 points and Jessica Pitts added 22 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists in La Roche women's basketball's (8-1, 4-0) decisive 101-46 win over Mt. Aloysius (4-5, 1-3) on Wednesday in conference play. The victory extends their win streak to a season-high 7 games and keep them atop the AMCC Conference standings.

The Lady Redhawks opened the contest on a 12-0 run and outscored Mt. Aloysius 48-18 in the first half. La Roche went 22 for 39 (56%) from the field after the first 20 minutes and forced 18 turnovers. The Lady Redhawks continued their success through the second half with an up-tempo offense and tough team defense.

Cygan went 12 for 18 from the field and shot 57% from behind the arc to net a career-high 31 points. Pitts finished 2 assists shy of a triple-double with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists and Amanda Garland netted her sixth double-digit performance of the season with 19 points.

The Lady Redhawks scored over 100 points for the first time in school history and set a school record with 43 field goals. La Roche shot a season-best 53% from the field and recorded 26 assists. They also outrebounded the visiting Mounties 40-30.

La Roche women's basketball will travel to Waynesburg University on Monday for a non-conference game. The Lady Redhawks last played the Yellow Jackets on December 21, 2010 and fell 59-51.
